Getting Started… https://insideoutstudios.ca/getting-started/ https://insideoutstudios.ca/getting-started/#respond Tue, 25 Nov 2014 16:47:48 +0000 https://insideoutstudios.ca/?p=719 Isolate each muscle group in order to get to most fat-burning benefit. Your mind/muscle connection will improve tremendously with STUDiO barre.

  • Be patient with your classes/training as it takes time to master the technique.
  • In STUDiO barre class make each movement small & controlled. Every movement should stem from the muscles you are working. Small isometric movements require you to support your own weight in a fixed position. We know what muscles we’re targeting on each exercise so you need to focus on moving right from there. Isolate each muscle group in order to get to most fat-burning benefit. Your mind/muscle connection will improve tremendously with STUDiO barre.
  • Next time you take class, remember an inch is only an inch: sink one inch lower, extend one inch straighter, or sQueeze a little bit harder. By the end, you’re tired and ready to come out, but push through till the very end. Without discomfort there is no change.
  • The magic is in the tuck! Whether in weights, thighs, seat or ab work, the harder you tuck your hips, the more effective each exercise will be. Practice your “tuck” : Think shoulders back and down in line w/ your hips, contract your lower abs, and sQueeze your seat (aka buttocks). You will feel your hips tuck under you. (Instead of sticking your seat out, think roll your tailbone under). Tucking your hips will protect your lower back and challenge you to use your abs! It may seem like a lot to remember but it will make all the difference outside of class. Good posture is key. Being toned, trim & walking tall will prevent back problems & is also an outward sign of confidence & health.
  • If your muscles start to shake and burn during class, work through it, it takes everything in your power not to come out of it! But this means you’re reaching muscle failure, which is your goal during class and this is where the muscles actually start to change. Take a deep breath, embrace the shake and hang onto the burn, and watch your body transform right in front of you.
  • Wear sticky socks – They provide the anti-bacterial protection of a sock while providing the non-slip protection of a sneaker! In addition, they keep your muscles warm for an increase in flexibility!!
  • Laugh, smile and have FUN!

Tips on tucking to get the MOST out of your every workout… https://insideoutstudios.ca/tips-tucking-get-every-workout/ https://insideoutstudios.ca/tips-tucking-get-every-workout/#respond Tue, 18 Nov 2014 19:39:12 +0000 https://insideoutstudios.ca/?p=470 Less is more - when tucking right, left or center, we should barely see your tuck movements if you're in proper barre posture....

Core strength is vital to better posture and improving our every day activities. In our iNSiDE Out STUDiO barre practice, we provide a phenomenal core workout, because we engage our core throughout the ENTIRE class by maintaining a TUCK position, which is why we only do 7-8 minutes of focused abdominal work and 2-3 mins of back extension at the end of class. We aren’t taking it easy on you – we’ve been targeting those muscle groups all along!

Here’s a few tips on tucking to get the MOST out of your every workout:

    • Less is more – when tucking right, left or center, we should barely see your tuck movements if you’re in proper barre posture. This minimal movement (aka isometric movement) concentrates on fatiguing specific core and gluteal muscle groups.
    • Show off a proud chest – In order to create a FULLY neutralized spine/posture (which puts you in the BEST position to maximally gain from your workout), you must lengthening the spine by lifting your chest. This will benefit your practice AND your daily posture. It can help relieve tension in your lower and upper back, which might otherwise cause pain and discomfort.
    • Make that mind-body connection – THINK about the muscle groups you are using when you hold your tuck position throughout the class. Actively engage your abdominal walls, as if you were sucking in your tummy towards your spine. Feel the straightening and lengthening of your spine when you lift your chest proudly, like someone was stretching you from head to toe. By making this mind-body connection you are consciously activating and working these muscles. Try it next time you’re at a class, we promise you’ll thank us later for the added boost to your regular barre class routine!

Having trouble with your tuck or other movements in the class? iNSiDE Out STUDiO barre also offers private classes, where you have a one-on-one session that focuses on YOUR technique so you can maximize your results! The private classes can be tailored to your needs – whether it’s ran as a “regular class” with individualized attention and correction, or focused on areas you would like to improve, we will make it WORK for YOU!
